- 2. Choose the result link for the Online Main Examination.
- 3. Enter the registration details from your application, as you did for the Prelims result.
- 4. Note your status. The notification says shortlisted candidates do not get their Main score until interviews finish.

IBPS SO IT Mains cut-off: read this before comparing
Every Mains cut-off published so far is out of 60. The 2026 Professional Knowledge paper is out of 100, with fewer questions and less time, so an old cut-off is not a target for this year.

IBPS SO IT interview: questions, marks and what to expect
The interview carries 100 marks and 20% of final merit, with a minimum of 40% (35% for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD). Banks run it, and IBPS helps coordinate it. IBPS publishes no question list, so everything below names its source.

Panel and length: candidate reports describe 5 or 6 panel members and 10 to 15 minutes. One coaching guide says 2 to 4 members and 20 to 30 minutes. The sample is small and IBPS states neither, so prepare to give a sharp answer in about two minutes per topic.

What is the difference between an IDS and an IPS?
An intrusion detection system watches traffic and raises an alert. An intrusion prevention system sits in the path of the traffic and can block it as well. A bank usually wants prevention on critical links, and accepts the risk of a false positive dropping good traffic.
What is a DDoS attack and how would a bank defend against it?
Many machines flood a service until real customers cannot reach it. Defences include rate limiting, filtering at the network edge or through a scrubbing provider, a web application firewall, spare capacity and monitoring that spots the spike early.
What are DDL, DML and DCL?
DDL defines structure (CREATE, ALTER, DROP). DML changes data (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE). DCL controls access (GRANT, REVOKE). If asked about transactions, add TCL: COMMIT and ROLLBACK.
What is the difference between NULL and zero?
Zero is a value. NULL means no value is known. So NULL = NULL is not true in SQL, you test with IS NULL, and aggregates like SUM and AVG skip NULLs.
Name the OSI layers and where a router works.
Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, Application. A router works at the Network layer and a typical switch at the Data Link layer.
Firewall or antivirus: what is the difference?
A firewall filters network traffic by rules, deciding what may enter or leave. Antivirus scans files and running programs on a machine for malware. They solve different problems, so a bank needs both.
What do DHCP and APIPA do?
DHCP hands out IP addresses automatically. If a Windows machine cannot reach a DHCP server, it gives itself an APIPA address in the 169.254.x.x range, which works only on the local link. Seeing one is a quick sign of a DHCP problem.
In Java, what are final, finally and finalize?
final stops a variable being reassigned, a method being overridden or a class being extended. finally is a block that runs after try and catch. finalize was a method called before garbage collection, and it has been deprecated since Java 9.
NEFT, RTGS or IMPS: which would you use to send ₹10 lakh?
RTGS, or NEFT if timing is flexible. RTGS settles in real time with a ₹2 lakh minimum and no RBI maximum. NEFT settles in half-hourly batches with no RBI minimum or maximum. IMPS is instant but generally capped at ₹5 lakh a transaction. Banks can set lower limits, so check current figures before your interview.
How does UPI work?
UPI is NPCI's real-time payment system. A customer's virtual payment address maps to a bank account, the app is bound to the device, and the UPI PIN is the second factor. Money moves between banks instantly, around the clock.
What are repo rate, reverse repo and CRR?
Repo is the rate at which RBI lends to banks. Reverse repo is the rate at which RBI absorbs money from banks. CRR is the share of deposits banks must keep with RBI. Learn the current figures from RBI's website the week of your interview, because they change.
Why would a bank use a data warehouse?
Core banking handles live transactions, so it is a poor place for heavy analysis. A warehouse pulls history from core banking, loans and cards into one place, for management reports, risk, regulatory returns and fraud patterns.

- You must clear a minimum in every test, and score high enough in Professional Knowledge to be shortlisted.
- IBPS decides the minimums after the exam, according to vacancies. No figures are fixed in advance.
- The Descriptive Paper falls under the qualifying tests. IBPS does not say how it is marked.
- Prelims marks count for nothing here. If two candidates tie, the older one ranks higher.

Do not wait for the result. Last cycle, sites reported only about 12 days between call letters and the end of interviews. Start with your introduction and the topic table above, keep your documents ready, and revise networks, databases and payment systems now.
You are aiming for the next cycle
Professional Knowledge is now 50 questions and 100 marks in 40 minutes, and likely 0.50 off for each wrong answer, so accuracy matters more than attempts. It is also tested in Prelims, so build it first. Then practise the qualifying tests enough to clear their minimums.

Not as of 4 November 2026. IBPS's CRP SPL-XVI page shows the Prelims result of 15 October 2026 as its newest entry. The direct link goes live on this page when IBPS posts it.
When will the IBPS SO IT Mains result come?
IBPS's tentative schedule says November 2026. In the last four cycles the Mains result came 12 to 55 days after the Main exam, according to coaching and news sites. IBPS has not announced an exact date.
Where can I check the IBPS SO Mains result?
Only on ibps.in, which the notification names as the place for all announcements. Use the CRP SPL-XVI page, then sign in with your registration details. Be careful of sites saying the result is out while their link is inactive.
What is the IBPS SO IT Mains cut-off for 2026?
Not published. IBPS fixes no qualifying marks in advance and sets them after the exam according to vacancies. Older cut-offs are out of 60, while the 2026 Professional Knowledge paper is out of 100, so they cannot be compared directly.
Does the whole Main exam count towards the final merit?
No. The notification says all tests except Professional Knowledge are qualifying. So merit comes from the 100-mark Professional Knowledge paper, and you must also clear the minimum in every other test. Prelims marks do not count.
How is the final IBPS SO IT merit calculated?
Main and interview are combined in an 80:20 ratio. The interview is out of 100, and the minimum is 40% (35% for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD).
Is there negative marking in the Main exam?
Yes. A wrong answer loses a quarter of that question's marks, and a blank loses nothing. Professional Knowledge has 50 questions for 100 marks, so if marks are uniform that is 0.50 per wrong answer rather than the 0.25 many pages quote.
When is the IBPS SO IT interview?
IBPS's tentative schedule says November or December 2026, with the date and venue on your call letter. Last cycle, sites reported call letters on 17 December 2025 and interviews running until 29 December, so preparation time after the letter can be short.
What is asked in the IBPS SO IT interview?
IBPS publishes no question list. Candidates and guides report networking and security, databases and SQL, OOP and Java, payment systems such as NEFT, RTGS and UPI, repo rate and CRR, plus your background and why you want a bank job.
